What is Hosting?

Hosting is a service to provide a virtual space for storing your files and accessing them to other Internet users.

Hosting is needed to display your site (web pages, blog) to each visitor 24 hours a day, for example. You can host the site on your home computer, but then you have to keep it on all the time.
